marie blissMarie Bliss, Manager Learning Technology, Advanced Auto Parts. Marie will facilitate a discussion on “Customized Online Training Plans”. She will explain how Advance Auto Parts assesses the automotive knowledge of new hires for their retail stores. Once the assessment is complete, additional training is provided.
Marie holds a B.S. in Information Systems from Virginia Commonwealth University and a M.A. in Adult Distance Learning from University of Phoenix Online.

 

 

 

David DeHaven Dr. David DeHaven, D3 Coaching, LLC, will facilitate a table discussion on Neural Linquistic Programming (NLP)David will review how the science of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) can be used to enhance presentations and trainings, and facilitate discussion on techniques for creating rapport with participants, how to "read people", handle "difficult" participants and unlock the keys for enhanced communication and learning.

 

David holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from George Mason University, an MBA from Auburn University and a Ph.D. in Organization and Management/Leadership from Capella University.  David is also a Buzan Licensed Instructor, certified NLP Practitioner and a member of the International Coach Federation.

 

 

Heather PoffHeather Poff, VP Human Resources for Foot Levelers, will present on the Training Assessments Foot Levelers conducted for their managers and the follow-up.  This has been one of their most successful measures to assess executive skills and develop individual as well as group employee development plans to support the company's succession plan.
Heather has a master’s degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Radford University and is enrolled in Virginia Tech’s PMBA program.  
 

 Emily Connelly Emily Connelly, Administrative and Marketing Associate with CMR Institute, will host a table on Telecommuting - working remotely for a company out of one's home. She will discuss the pros and cons from a personal and company point of view.  Relevant topics are: the challenges one faces when not being in "front of" their team, virtual downward and upward management, and  telecommuting as an option for employees and employers in the current economic climate.

Emily has an undergraduate degree in marketing from Virginia Tech and spent the majority of her career  with The Corporate Executive Board as an Account Director .  She began her Masters in Teaching from Hollins University in 2006.
